Our First Storm...

Once upon a time there were a couple of crazy kids that had an obsession with lightning and well, I guess, just storms in general.  We live in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and it was a Spring month, October 2013.  It had been a hot, humid day, one that had temperatures well above average.  Deep down on the horizon, it was obvious that clouds were building.  Not just any clouds.  These clouds were showing signs of developing into what could have been the thunderstorm of the month!

As you could imagine, our anticipation grew stronger and stronger as the afternoon hours passed whilst we watched an evolution of white puffy clouds become large, dark and angry.

The following images depict what transpired:

Unfortunately, it was not to be the 'storm of storms' but it did provide us with some entertainment for an hour or so.

Until next time, get yourself #thunderstruck.

Welcome Message from Ausmican

Ausmican - A noun.  It's origin is nothing more complicated than an Australian man meeting an American girl, falling in love.  Their lives became one - otherwise, known as Aus(tralian)(A)m(er)ican or Ausmican.  The Australian is Darrell and the American is Chelsea.  Welcome to our blog.

Yes, that's a picture of us below - cute right?  As you can see, we are #thunderstruck

 Welcome

Ausmican - A blog.  It's origin followed after Ameriaus.blogspot.com.au was created by Chelsea some 6 months ago.  Ameriaus has a distinct flavour - food.  Our other passion is all things storm related and this provided inspiration to take pictures and post to a new Instagram account, Ausmican.  All just a bit of fun until storm season began - now, it's serious.  Very serious business.  It was time to create a blog dedicated to all things storm and weather related - Ausmican.blogspot.com.au

It all started with this storm picture below of which was captured from the 20th floor of where the Australian half of Ausmican works, in the heart of Brisbane city.

This is just the beginning.  Hope you enjoy.
